—Blue Jays fans in Toronto and around the world

It hasn’t been long since I started watching baseball, but you instantly became my favorite player.
I wish you and your family all the best in Philadelphia, and I can’t wait to see you pitch in October.
Thank you for everything and I will miss seeing you pitch every five days with the Jays.

—Jean, Vancouver

Doc,
Your work ethic, passion, and dedication are unmatched. You are an inspiration to us all. Wish you could have won your World Series in Toronto, but we will be pulling for you all the way in Philly. Wishing you the best!

—Chris, Newcastle Ontario

Thanks for all the great years you were loyal to the team. Now go get that ring you deserve so much! Then come back to Toronto and do it all over again, okay?

—Mitch, Guelph

Thanks. You eased the pain of paying ten dollars a beer every game. Enjoy the playoffs

—Christian, Toronto

Bye bye Roy. We love you, good luck.

—Julie, London, ON

Thank you Roy for showing everyone in Toronto what a dominating Ace can do for a franchise. You made the games fun to watch and always amazed everyone with your ability. I had the privilege of meeting you in Montana’s restaurant and it was the first time I was put in a state of awe by the person in front of me. Stay classy and always remember Toronto. Thank you!

—Scott, Toronto

From the last day of the 1998 season, Jays fans knew you were a special pitcher. Little did we realize that you are also a special human being as well and the work you have done in the city of Toronto off the field as well as on the field is unmatched in this day and age of professional athletes. Thank you for the wonderful years, the great performances, the many times you made me stand up to give you a standing ovation (as silly as it sounds, even when at home watching on tv, you are the first ballplayer to make me get up and clap while alone in the room). Good luck.

Cheers
Ems

—Myeengun Henry, Coldstream Ontario

Dear Roy,

while I’m extremely happy you are out of the AL East for the sake of my Red Sox, it will be a shame not to be able to watch you work. thanks for showing us fans and the rest of the league how it’s done. I hope you get your championship, you are beyond deserving.

—Molly, Boston

Thanks Roy,
Thanks for all those years you were a Jay. You were eveyones favorite. Unlike most great players, you had no haters. Blue jay fans were proud to have you in Toronto and we will always be proud. You were the greatest thing that happened to Toronto sports. I love you Doc! Watching you put on a new cap made me want to cry, but I understand that it’s what you want and that makes me happy. Go get a ring and then in 2014 come back to us. Hopefully we will be a playoff team by then and you can finish your career here. In our hearts you will always be a blue jay.

—Docfan, toronto

Lets hope you can finally get that ring you so rightly deserve, Roy. Knock ‘em dead in Philly. You will always have a special place in Toronto. We’ll never forget what you did for us!

—Becky, Toronto

Hi Roy,
Never going to forget the times I spent at the Skydome watching you pitch… overpriced beers, sunshine, and utter domination. Thanks for the memories. Next time you’re in town don’t be too hard on the boys alright ya big stud.

—Keenan, Mississauga

You rock.

Dear Roy:

Good luck with your new team. As a Jays fan since the first game, I saw your first start. From that moment on, I was a fan and even though you have moved on, I will still be a fan.

I hope some playoff appearances, and at least one WS is in your future. And when you are finished in Philly, come back home to the Jays. Good Luck to you and yours.

—sandy,victoria

doc,we loved cliff lee but he was our second choice last year.
now that your a phillie you will see how close knit this TEAM
is..we play one game at a time with a line up that is strong
offensibly from top to bottom. You will get lots of run support
,so 20 or more wins is possible. Good luck

Thank God you left the division, I couldn’t stand to watch you beat the sox and cost us a playoff spot. It sucks you weren’t on the glory teams of the early 90′s to get you the rings you deserved though…

—GED, Fort Worth

What can I say Roy Halladay was the simple greatest player I have ever seen play the game of baseball in 22 years. I’m gonna miss going down to Rogers Centre to watch him pitch every 5th day. I’ve now lost all hope I had for the Blue Jays we just lost the greatest player to ever put on a Jays uniform.

—Ray, Toronto

Thank you Roy for giving Toronto all those years of awesome pitching. Go get your championship.

—Sonya, Toronto

Roy, you were the greatest our great franchise has ever had. I am a better person for having the opportunity to watch you play baseball in Toronto for all those years. Good luck moving forward. Toronto is behind you and looks forward to seeing you compete for your ultimate goal.

—Kyle, Toronto

Old Fashioned Pitcher

How dear to my heart was the old-fashioned hurler
Who labored all day on the old village green.
He did not resemble the up-to-date twirler
Who pitches four innings and ducks from the scene.
The up-to-date twirler I’m not very strong for;
He has a queer habit of coming up lame.
And that is the reason I hanker and long for
The pitcher who started and finished the game.

The old-fashioned pitcher
The iron-armed pitcher,
The stout-hearted pitcher,
Who finished the game.
