—Blue Jays fans in Toronto and around the world

Can’t wait to see you pitch in person Roy. I am so excited to have you in Philly, we’ll be there opening day and we will get down to Clearwater in the spring too. We are smiling in Phillytown :)

—Jeanie, Norristown

PLEASE wear the Jays uniform when you are inducted into Baseball Hall of Fame!

—Valerie, Toronto

Dammit. I was so close to seeing you pitch.

Remember Bobby Higginson? I was at that game, and fuck that guy.

Also, It was a pleasure watching you pitch, Roy. Thanks for making baseball beautiful and the Jays respectable.

—Myles, Toronto

Roy, your hard work and dedication to your craft has been an inspiration to me in many aspects of my life. Thanks for the great years of baseball, and good luck in the future. You will always have fans in Toronto!

—Brad, Toronto

Doc,

We all knew we were on to something special that first game we saw you in the Blue and White over 10 years ago. I’m so thrilled that I was able to watch you pitch all these years while representing our team and city so well. You were the consummate professional, you were always ready to go. Go get a ring man, nobody deserves it more than you.

—Stephane

I don’t care that you’re in the NL, I’m still the best pitcher in this league. You aren’t taking my Cy Young’s, fuckhead.

—Tim Lincecum

Thanks for being the best representative for the Jays, baseball and the city of Toronto both on and off the field. You and your wife Brandy truly demonstrate how talent, dedication and hard work can benefit everybody in the community. Your passion for the game and for winning is unmatched and becoming more elusive among your colleagues, especially as the money and celebrity increase to obnoxious proportions.

I wish you and Brandy the best of luck and continued happiness with your family life and I truly hope that you’ll be able to achieve and maintain the level of success in baseball that the Blue Jays’ organization could not deliver.

Thank you so much for taking that mound every fifth day and taking such an active role in our community every other day. Whatever cap you wear, I’ll always be rooting for you. See you in June!

—Anand P, Ancaster

I’m a Yankee fan, but seeing the Doctor pitch was always a good show. Too bad his team couldn’t back him up on the field or at the plate…Go Yankees

P.S. Roy would have looked better in Navy Blue pinstripes…

—Paul, Kingston

I will never forget that complete game gem you threw when AJ came back into town. I was 20 rows behind the catcher loving every second of it. Thanks for holding it down so many years, you deserve it all, Roy.
Get that ring.

—Diego, Toronto

Thanks Roy! My son is now 4 and just getting in to ball. I sat him down quite often to watch you pitch and though he didn’t understand a lot of it, what he did understand is that there was a reason the Toronto fans were always on their feet during your games. He knew the reason was “Doc”. I chose your starts specifically to instill in him what a relentless winning attitude and hard work can do for you. Each one was virtual magic and an inspiration for Jays fans everywhere!

We’ll miss the Doc, we’ll miss the wins but most of all we’ll miss the greatest Blue Jays pitcher there ever was! Good luck in Philly.

—Chris, London

Hey Roy. Fuck you.

—Cliff Lee, Seattle

Thank you for all the great wins you had with the Blue Jays. You were always fun to watch. I hope you find the World Series title you have been seeking with the Phillies.

—Rob Perkins, Washington, DC

welcome to philly doc. i cant wait to see u opening day. its looking like we r gonna have another great season and hopefully u get the ring u have earned and deserve.

—matt hotts, hatboro

Hands down the best pitcher I’ve ever seen in person and from the beginning of his career. I’ll be telling my kids about you one day. I’ve never had a “team” in the NL before. Now I do. Thanks Roy, we’ll miss you.

—Worcester Sauce, Toronto

you were the only reason why I wouldn’t miss watching a Blue Jays game every five days. The day after you would pitch I would always scan the daily newspapers of the team you pitched against, just to read the reactions of the opposing lineup.
I loved hearing them talk about you, how unhittable you were & how you were (in their opinion) the BEST they have ever faced.

To all you Phillie fans…..this Lion is going to wow you guys like never before. TRUST ME! Even the “few hits/runs” he will give up, it will be by a weak single through the infield or a lazy popup in no-mans land. Doc rarely gets hit hard.

It will be scary to see what he does against the NL lineups.

Trust a Halladay fan that has watched every single one of his starts since that near no-no way back in ’98.

Toronto loves you & will miss you Harry Leroy Halladay!

—Eric Garcia, Toronto

Thanks Roy, you were a true class act. Even when certain people tried to make you look bad this past season, you kept quiet and just kept playing. You will go down as the best Blue Jay ever. You were a treat to watch, if you looked up the definition of Pitcher, you’d see a picture of Roy Halladay. Thanks,

—Niaaz, Toronto

Welcome to Philadelphia, looking forward to watching you pitch. We have a lot of great fans here (a lot of bad ones too) but if you focus on the positive, you’ll see that this is a really good sports town that cares (at times too much) about their teams and players. Welcome, now get to work :)

—Tim

Just remember where you came from when you walk through the doors of Cooperstown. That blue bird belongs on your cap. Still pulling for you every fifth day.

Thanks for always being the rock.
