—Blue Jays fans in Toronto and around the world

Easily the greatest and most professional athlete to have played for a Toronto sports team in my childhood. It’s rare that we get a player this good in Toronto and one who is willing to stay north of the border for so long (aside from hockey). You always gave it your all. I’m sorry you dealt with a lot of BS over the past years here but hopefully you’ll win a championship in Philly. Thanks for being an inspiration to all of us here.

—John, Toronto

Roy Halladay. Best pitcher the Jays have ever seen, best pitcher I’ve ever seen period. Best of luck with the Phils, I think adding a big ring will only help that cutter!

We’ll see you this summer, and we’ll all be standing in appreciation.

—Adam, Huntsville

Roy, has been the face of Toronto sports for the last while and as an ambassador to the city and the team, there is no other person in the world better than him. I strongly believe that if Roy was not a Blue Jay this team would have been another Expos by now. Its going to be hard to watch the season opener this season and not having the sure-fire arm on the mound. Thanks Roy, it was fun while it lasted!

—Noah, Toronto

the greatest two seamer in the world…

—Ethan, Vancouver BC

Thanks Roy for your professionalism and your grit. Thanks for always performing at your best and giving us something to cheer for.

I wish you the best in Philly and hope you get the ring you deserve.

—Singh, Pickering

Much love for the greatest we’ve ever seen. Thanks for the memories and go win yourself a championship.

—Grady

Watching Roy Halladay pitch is what turned me from a casual baseball fan into a man who lives and breathes the game. And there is no better athlete to model yourself after. Roy, you are a stand up guy and a superhuman athlete.

Go mow down the national league, bring home a ring by crushing the Yankees in the WS like you always do, and continue to be a source of inspiration to baseball fans everywhere.

Hopefully one day you can come back to us and give this city one more glimpse of the best pitcher they ever had.

—Mike, Toronto

You’re the best, Roy. There’s nobody I’d rather have as the face of a team, or the ace of a team.

It looks pretty bleak now, but we’ll have a decent team in place in 2015. You know we’ll still love you then.

—Alex, Toronto

Thank you Roy for all the fantastic memories over the past many years! Come this June when the Phillies come to Toronto, you deserve a standing ovation from the first pitch of the first inning to the final out of the ninth. I may even go out and buy a Phillies cap now!

—Dan, Toronto

Thanks for for the tireless work ethic and the hope you gave us.Thanks for letting us realize we were watching greatness in action. Next up: World Series MVP!

—David, Markham

<—– GBOAT.

You were not only an awe-inspiring joy to watch on the mound; not just a flawless role model for kids, but an inspiration for grown adults. I posted quotes of your teammates describing your workout regimen in my modest little workout room. You got me out of bed and moving when seasonal affective disorder had other plans for me. You will be sorely missed in TO. I wish you the best.

Roy, thanks for all the great moments. You were my favourite player on the Jays and losing you will definitely be saddening. But I’m happy your off to bigger things and I really want you to win the World Series. Good luck and thanks again

—Tayyab, Toronto

I’ve been watching baseball for 25 years, and it’s never hurt so much to see a former player in another team’s uni. Thanks for everything Roy, it’s been an honour and a pleasure! Hope you win that WS or three with the Phillies… I know we’ll all be rooting for you.

—Mike, Montreal

Thanks roy. You have been an inspiration to me. Go get a couple of rings in Philly , then come back to Toronto and bring back a few rings home.

—Rene, Moncton New Brunswick

Thanks for everything Roy your a true winner it’s just a shame that the organization that drafted you had no desire to win.

—Jeff, Halifax

Greatest Blue Jays of all… The true GBOAT. The doctor will always be in…

Thank you Roy

—Luke, Halifax

Roy, you really were the face of the franchise. Losing you is a loss of Blue Jays’ history. But I’m so happy that you have a chance to win the World Series and hope that one day you will return to the Jays! You are an inspiration to all who support and watch you and I thank you for that!

—Hunter Devine, London (UK)

Roy is a phenomenal pitcher, but he’s an even better man, and Jays fans are grateful to him for the loyalty he showed the city, his intensely competitive spirit, and how dedicated he and his family were to their charitable efforts. No trade could replace his true worth to the Jays and the city of Toronto. But he’s earned this chance, and you’ve got to believe he’s going to make the most of it.

Favourite game: MAY 2009. Doc schools AJ in his first start back in Toronto. What. A. Game.

—Tara, Toronto

Thank you Roy. My favourite player to ever play the game. I can tell you love to play the game and you have a desire to win which is why I have the utmost respect for you and I don’t fault you in the least bit for making this move. I’ll be there to give you a standing O when you come back in to the Skydome (sorry but I refuse to call it the Roger’s Centre) in June. Best of luck to you! Win the championship and come back!!

—Brandon Cheung, Toronto

What will bring more tension to Toronto on June 25th? Roy Halladay’s return or the G20 Summit?

Tough call
