—Blue Jays fans in Toronto and around the world

As a former Blue Jays usher (yes, I actually got paid to watch this man pitch!) I can say you are everything everyone says and more
-an unbelievable pitcher and and also the epitome of a class act. Thank you, thank you Doc for what you’ve done for the Jays, your dedication to Toronto and the faith you gave to this team for so many years. I only wish team management could’ve returned the favour.

Good luck this October-we’ll all be cheering for you.

—Christie , Toronto

I’ve been a Jays fan since the days of the Best Outfield in Baseball… Bell, Moseby, Barfield. I was pissed when McGriff got traded… but Robbie eased the pain. I damn near cried when Carlos left.. And I’m going through the same thing now. My only hope is that Carlos hangs on long enough for both of you guys to come back to T.O and win a World Series. Then I could die a happy man.

—Matt, Peoria IL

Please don’t no-hit us in June.

—The Blue Jays

Jesus, Roy. Sucks that you’re gone.. every game I went to see over the last two or three seasons had you slotted in for a guaranteed 2 hours of kick-ass, efficient baseball. I’ll be cheering for the Phillies come next October. Make us proud. Thanks again.

—Steve, Hamilton

Doc, your old #32 will be waiting for you in Toronto when you are finished fooling around with the Phils.

—Kareem, Toronto

thank you Roy. It was always special to have tickets and know that you were starting on the bump. You will be missed.

—Jeremy, Brantford

thank you Roy. You are a fantastic human being and a great ball player. It was always fun to have tickets and know that you were the starting pitcher. Good luck, and we’ll all be cheering for you.

—Brantford

Thanks for all your years here in Toronto and allowing us the opportunity to see a future Hall of Famer at work. You were a class act all the way. I’m sorry you never had the chance to win the big one here. Thus I wish you all the best with the Phillies.

But hopefully when you go to Cooperstown you’ll be wearing a Blue Jays cap. :)

We’ll miss you Roy. I hope you win a World Series but, unfortunately for you, National League teams seldom do that. please don’t get yourself hurt trying to be a hitter in that other ridiculous league.

—Smith, Brockville

Roy and Brandy. Thanks for all you did for the city of Toronto. It won’t be forgotten. You have won a place in our hearts. Good luck in the future and Happy Holi-Jays!

—Jason, Toronto

You are the reason I became more than a casual Blue Jays fan. It was a pleasure watching you work every five days, and now that you are on a contender, I hope you will get not only the recognition you deserve, but the ring you deserve as well. We’ll miss you Doc, and I think I speak for All Jays fans by saying Go Phillies!

—Craig, Aurora ON

Roy,
Words cant express this loss. On the briughter side I might not have to listen to my boyfriend talk about you constantly.

—Jennifer, Milton

Definitely no hard feelings: I sure wish that we could have competed at the level you deserved.

Thank you for all the great memories; I hope you get the welcome you deserve when you return.

—Steve, Ottawa

Thank you, Roy!
Classy. Dedicated. Focused. There are so many words we could use to describe you – whatever it may be, all the adjectives are positive. None negative.
I know how much you love Toronto and I hope you’ll definitely come back and visit us when you have free time. I know you would have loved to win with the Jays, but given the circumstances you’re in, it’s understandable.
I’m sorry that you were never able to even go to the post-season with the Jays, so let’s hope you get that chance in Philadelphia!
Best of luck!

You will definitely be missed by all Jays fans.

—Alvi, Richmond Hill

Thank you. We’ll miss you.

Doc

You are the personification of professionalism. Your hard work, determination and dedication to the game and the Jays did not go unnoticed. You are the greatest Blue Jay of all time!!!

I only wish that the management could have built a true team around you.

Baseball fans in Toronto, and Canada, will never forget you.

Thanks for the years of dominating pitching!

—Tim, Milton

We’ve had the pleasure in Toronto of watching lots of great pitchers. But none can top the journey you’ve taken in front of our eyes. You were simply the best. Hands down.

—James, Toronto

Thanks for everything, Roy. You were a treat to watch, and you truly are a great human being.

It would have been awesome to see you win as a Blue Jay, but I understand the current clubs situation and the fact that you want to win now. Perhaps if your still around in four years a return to Toronto could be in the cards?

However, thanks for all the great memories, and good luck in Philly!

Toronto

Roy you were the classiest, most hardworking guy to ever come through Toronto in any sport on any team. We will really miss you. Im sorry you couldnt have gotten it together enough so you had a ring to show for all your work.

Cheers
