You are an example for our kids, for atheletes in every sport and for how a man should be in general. For everything the Jays and the city of Toronto has given you – you have given us so much more. It was a sheer joy watching you pitch.
I’m a Phillies fan for as long as you are a Philly and we are cheering for you to win a ring there.
You will ALWAYS be a Blue Jay and when your career comes to and end your name will be up in the rafters of Rogers Centre along with Steib, Alomar, Carter, Cheek and the like – as the Best Toronto Blue Jay ever.
All the Best.
Thanks Doc, you are a class act, and a true role model for kids looking to play any sport at any level. Best of luck in Philly, bring home that ring!
Just saw the letter in the paper, much appreciated. Pure class as always.
Dear Roy,
Thanks for everything you’ve done for Toronto and baseball in Canada. It was a joy to watch you play in a Jay’s uniform for so long. Good luck in Philadelphia!
Doc, You are the best! It is going to be hard to watch Jays without you! Thanks for all of your years of hard work and loyalty. You deserve this opportunity. Win one for the Phillies!! We will be cheering for you every step of the way.
Thanks Ray for doing what you do so well and being a 100% pro about the trade talk.
I’ll still be wearing your jersey with pride. You’re the best and more people will soon realize it. Hope you win a ring, we all know you can. Thanks Doc.

Halladay took out a full page in the Toronto Sun this morning (page S9) to thank the fans in Toronto. What a class act!
Dear Roy:
Thank you for your tremendous years with the Blue Jays. We in Toronto will never forget watching you pitch, and we’ll fondly remember your work ethic, drive, and baseball brilliance.
Best of luck in the next stage of your illustrious career.
Derek Lipman.
Imagine, for a second, being an opposing batter. There’s Roy on the mound, ginger beard sparkling with sweat, unblinking eyes, staring right into your soul, burning a hole. He unleashes hell with his arm, like an artillery gun cocked and ready to fire a load of suffering. The ball dances through the air unpredictably, being controlled by Roy’s magic Mormon mind powers, like he was playing a video game. You strike out swinging, but you’re not even embarrassed. It wasn’t fair. You just faced a man who eats gravel for breakfast and crushes opponents’ wills to live for dinner. His name was Roy, and he was the greatest Blue Jay pitcher ever.
Thank you, Roy.
Me and Jean will miss u
In 1993, Paul Molitor left the only organization he ever knew, the Milwaukee Brewers, and came to Toronto for the chance to win a World Series ring. I wondered what it must have been like for Brewers fans to watch him win with us. I’m about to find out. Like him, you gave your all for us and try as we might, we couldn’t get that ring you so desire. I am sad that you need to go elsewhere to do it. The silver lining is that now everyone will see what we have known for so long, your dedication, professionalism, humility and artistry.
I will miss your pitching poetry, confidence, and focus. You were the person to bring me back to baseball after becoming disenchanted during the ’94 strike. I have sitting on my dresser the ball you signed for me, the word “dedication” your one-word summation of the secret of your success. And success is what I hope you find in Philadelphia. I hold on to the hope that when your contract is up and you’ve accomplished what you’ve set out to do, you’ll come home and finish your career here. I’ll be waiting.
Thanks Doc the way you carried yourself in your time in Toronto was first class, always a pleasure to watch you pitch. All the best. Hope you get your ring.
It’s been a pleasure watching you pitch. Thanks for the memories and good luck in Philly.
Greatest Blue Jay of All Time
Roy, you have meant so much to the city of Toronto and its baseball fans. We would love to see you wear the Jays uniform again.
Honestly, man, you don’t look right in the red.
Dear Mr.Halladay,
Kick some butt with the Phils.
Signed,
Toronto
I’m so glad I got to see you pitch your last homestand in Toronto. Thanks for the hat tip, we knew it was goodbye.
I hope the Phillies win next year so you can finally get that world series ring you deserve!
Goodbye Halladay, it’s been great.
Thanks Roy,
Over the past few seasons, it was your starts that would bring me to the ballpark alone. I wish you the best of luck in Philly.
All the best.

Roy, that ad you put in the Toronto Sun was the single classiest move by an athlete. Ever. Thanks for everything, go win a World Series. You deserve it, its just a shame it wont be with us.
