—Blue Jays fans in Toronto and around the world

Thanks for the 12 seasons, Roy! You are a true class act. I loved watching you pitch as a Jay, but will continue to watch you pitch no matter what team you’re on. Wishing you nothing but the best in Philly and hope you get your chance to shine in the playoffs next season!

—Christina, Ajax, ON

You are the best pitcher in the game today, keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll win a World Series.

Best of luck!

—Nelson, Toronto

Hey Roy, well what can we really say, but thanks and “see ya around”. you really gave us the best pitching the Jays have ever seen, or will see for a while. It was a real pleasure watching you and must admit that whenever you were pitching I would be sure to watch the game. You will be surley missed in T.O and hope your time in Philly treats you well, you deserve it!!! Win some championships and just remember where you started!!! Good ol’ T.O. baby!!!! Go Jays

—Nick, Milton, ON

Hey Doc, the way you went about your buisness on a day to day basis in this ever changing landscape of proffesional sports is truly remarkable. From the athletic standpoint i saw no one player that when was on , was in a class by himself, yet when was off still found a way to get thru 5 when most were pulled and accept accountability for your part in the teams loss. Thats called integrity! You epitomised what yesterdays athlete valued ,family, hard work ethic and incorporated it into what todays athlete should look and act like ( cant think of many in the 5 major professional leagues in N.A.) Thx for the memories hope Ted’s company will air your starts on the net here as the ratings will almost certainly be up from jays telecasts.

—Cory, Renfrew,Ont

Roy! you are best of the best pitcher I have seen. fan since day one. Sorry Roy that our organization hired someone that did not know what he was doing to improve the team. I will always be a fan forever. the poster I have of you in my room will never go down. you will always be a jays. hope you the best, love the job your wife was doing toward the charity as well. I was very very upset and sad that you were traded. I guess we have to move on, but please come back to T.O

—Radman

As a 30 yr Torontontian and a rabid Blue Jays despire 3 yrs in WI, I obviously feel sadness that Rogers and JP pulled the wool over over everyone’s eyes for so many years, including yours, about being serious about winning. The good news for me is that I will get to see you pitch much more often on US TV .

You were as loyal and devoted as any athlete in professional sport today. Like everyone else I truly hope you get the kudos you deserve by winning multiple rings and the whole continent and world realizing that you are the best pitcher in baseball as well as the best role model in all of sport.

—Peter Kenosha, WI

take care Roy…wish we could have kept you and traded the Rogers ownership to Philly instead….

—Paul, London

Roy
your the kind of guy we need in Canada, a great athlete, but more importantly, a good person.
Good luck in your life after the JAYS.

—Cook, Brampton

Thanks Doc!

Hope your turn in the rotation falls upon the June series vs. Toronto. We’ll obviously cheer you on regardless of your uniform!

—goldsac, Fonthill

Roy I hope you win a championship wherever you go (even though I hate the PHILLIES!).

Stay classy big guy, you are an inspiration to young people everywhere.

Sincerely,

B

I already left a message, but I wanted to add (a) Roy, your ad in the Sun today was very classy and I’m sure I’m not the only fan who was moved, and (b) folks, the series against Philly is JUNE 25-27, not May, not July. Book your time off work/school now and grab your tickets. I know I’ll be there all weekend!

—K, Southern Ontario

Roy, you are a sure-fire hall of famer. As hard is it is to say goodbye, we knew this was coming. The truth is, if most players left, I think a lot of us would be more upset. When it comes to a classy player like you though, who always put their sweat and blood into this franchise, I salute you, applaud you and am hoping you get the championship(s) that you have always deserved. Just a shame it couldn’t be here for the Jays. In the end, I hope to see you don the Jays cap in the hall of fame. Da Doctor will be opening up his clinic in Philly very soon .. I will be rooting

—Charlie O., Oshawa ON

Thanks for everything Doc now go get that ring.

—Paul, Peterborough

One of the best jays ever. Go get that championship Roy, we will be cheering you on!

—Brampton

I know this is supposed to be a thing for Toronto fans, but I want to thank Roy for wanting to come to Philadelphia. It’s been a LONG time since we had such a dominant frontline starter, probably since Steve Carlton. Best righty we’ll see since Curt Schilling. Just want to let all my north of the border friends know Roy is in good hands! Welcome!!!

—Brett, South Jersey

Simply the best there is in the league Doc!!! Jays Nation will be behind you in the playoffs this year while we develop… Don’t just win one ring doc, win 2, 3 or even 4. Much respect, Tony J.

—Tony J. , Etobicoke ON

Roy, there isn’t much to say that others haven’t posted. You are the greatest pitcher to ever wear the blue and white. I respect you a hell of a lot – go win that ring – the National League is going to be “real sick” when you open up your “clinic” down there in Philly, Doc! ;-)

—Jimmy Soirino, Markham

Roy,
Thanks for the memories. Ever since I saw you pitch the one hitter against the Tigers in your second start I knew you were going to be special. I also had the pleasure to meet you a couple of times in person. You were always friendly and happy to sign an autograph for your fans. More players need to realize that the fans pay their salaries and that they need to be more friendly to the fans. That’s why you will always be my favorite Blue Jays pitcher. I also liked the full page in the paper thanking the fans, what a class act. I hope you win your World Series with the Phillies. Best of luck and health in the future. Just make sure Cooperstown has you wearing a Jays cap.

—Dan Schellenberg Abbotsford BC

Doc, go win the championship you deserve. I saw on the 2010 schedule that the Phillies will be in town against the Jays in May. You can be sure to be greeted by a monster standing ovation. That may be the only game where I wouldn’t mind the Jays getting shut out.. even throw a perfect game. We will always remember Roy. All the best!!!! You deserve a ring!

—Dre, Toronto

Roy, you were such a pleasure to watch on a regular basis. All I ask of you is 2 things: Go win a championship you deserve it! Secondly, wear a Jays cap when you get inducted into the Hall at Cooperstown. I will be in attendance that day, you can be sure. All the best and thanks again!
