Dear Roy, I have always thought of you as having many parts. Half man, half god, half machine, half jesus, half dolphin. Precisely two and a half times the rest of us. I hope that the dolphin in you is excited about moving closer to the coast, and i can’t help but smile as i think of you swimming past delaware, past cape may and into the frigid water of the atlantic where you can frolic with the other dolphins. All the best roy and please stay clear of the tuna nets. Though I am sure you will use your devastating cutter to evade them. All the best Roy.
Thanks Doc Halladay,
You are probably the best pitcher I have ever seen. You play the game with such passion and emotion. Your work ethic was amazing and you will be missed in Toronto, but I do understand the reason you left. You have inspired many young kids out there. Hope you win a world series with Philly in the near future!
Thanks for playing the game the right way Roy, you’re a class act and a one of a kind player. Good luck in Philly!
Thanks Doc,
As long as I have been a fan of the Blue Jays you have always been the ace of the team and perhaps the best pitcher in the league. You were an inspiration to the entire Blue Jays fan base. Furthermore, you served as a valuable role model for how MLB players in general should conduct themselves and how they should play America’s pastime. I wish you well on your new goal of bringing a World Series Championship back to Philadelphia and look forward to the future epic games versus the Mets’ Johan Santana that every Jays fan was treated to when you two were still in the American League!
Honestly, the best pitcher in the American League over the past 7 years. Better than Santana even. If it wasn’t for the shitty Blue Jays, you would have probably won 7 straight Cy Young’s. I hope you do awesome in Philly. Thanks, Roy.
Thank you, Roy for being the greatest Blue Jay ever, to wear the uniform. I have followed your career from the start and I’ve always enjoyed watching you pitch, whether it be on tv or at the game. You are without a doubt, an incredible pitcher and a class act. You are and will always be one of my favourite players on the Blue Jays.
You were very loyal to the Blue Jays for the past 15 years that you were a part of the club, no one can say that you weren’t. While I would have preferred to see you win a World Series with the Blue Jays, the next best thing is that you have gone to be a part of a team that can contend.
I would have been so disappointed to see you not win a World Series ring, for the incredible pitcher that you are.
YOU will always be the face of the Blue Jays. My sincerest best wishes to you for continued success with the Phillies and to your family as well.
You deserve a ring. Now, go get it!!
You define the professional athlete Doc. You go about your business the right way and it is because of that why you’re so respected. You will enter The Hall one day. All the best to you and your family and the Phillies will now be my NL favourites as long as you’re there.
Mr. Halladay–
Thanks so much for the time you spent with the Blue Jays. Both on and off the diamond, the words “class act” don’t quite cover it. Even when the team as a whole was struggling, you went out to that mound ready to win. Thank you for your dedication, determination, and conduct as a Blue Jay. Thanks, too, for your results and performance. With, admittedly, a rebuilding phase going on in Toronto, not one of us blames you one bit for wanting a trade now. So thank you, too, for remaining loyal to the team and to Jays fans for as long as you did. Above all, thank you for showing people how a real winner who loves the game plays baseball the right way. We Jays fans are STILL pulling for you, Roy. Even if you’re not in a Jays uni any longer. Go get a World Series ring in Philly. Carve ‘em up, Doc.
You were the ace of the Blue Jays, if not the best in the MLB, good luck in your dream of winning the World Series!
Thank you Doc for all your class, your sportsmanship, your heart and especially your contribution, along with your wife Brandy, to the community…I wish you nothing but the best…WIN A RING FOR THE JAYS’ FANS IN PHILLY!!! MAKE US PROUD!!!
Thanks, for all your hard work and effort. I wish you and your family the best in Philidelphia. Go get’em Roy!
Thanks Roy,
Summer was always good when I could look forward to seeing you pitch every fifth day. Your work ethic is inspiring and it has motivated me in all areas. It won’t ever be the same and when the Phillies make the playoffs next year, I’ll be rooting for you the entire way. Go get that ring Roy!
thank you not only for your talent as a class pitcher but also for your dedication to the game, you set a fine example as a leader.good luck jn philly.
Thank you Roy Halladay, you made watching the Jays fun and always pitched with everything you had. The work ethic and determination you brought to the field and the clubhouse will surely benefit the young Jays pitchers of the future.
Growing up watching you has been a total joy, Thank you again. Best of luck in Philly.
Maybe down the road you can finish your career here in TO, I will miss watching you bulldog through the top lineups in the AL
Best wishes and a Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I remember family conversations as a child — my grandfather used to talk about how he once saw Mickey Mantle play; my father, my uncles would rebut that that they had seen Hank Aaron, George Brett, Mike Schmidt, Nolan Ryan , etc. and arguments would ensue about the best baseball players of all time. When I’m old and grey, I’ll be bragging that I saw Roy Halladay pitch and the kids’ jaws will drop like mine did back then.
Thank you Roy for being one of the best and for staying a Blue Jay as long as you did. And thank you for leaving — for as great as it was to watch you pitch, it would have been heartbreaking to watch you spend the next few years with a rebuilding Jays team. Best wishes on the chapter — go get that ring. You deserve it.
Thank you for being not only the greatest Blue Jay player ever, but also the best rolemodel. Win the damn World Series!
Roy,
I remember going down to the CNE Airshow two years ago (2008)… It was extremely busy down there and as I walked past and looked to my right I did a double-take as there you were just sitting alone by yourself propped up against a tree watching the Air Show. I was in complete awe! And as much as I wanted to come up and say hi and congrats (as you had just pitched a gem at Yankee Stadium the previous day), I also figured you know what? That’s the great thing about Toronto, that the best pitcher in baseball can be left alone to enjoy an afternoon amongst the public and not be bothered with autograph requests and such.
So anyways we set up our lawn chairs about 10-20 feet to your left.. just to be able to say we watched the Air Show w/ Roy Lol!.. and I was pretty amazed that during the hour we were there hundreds of people walked right by you and I’d say maybe 2 or 3 people tops recognized you!.. I remember some people were literally stepping over your big Nike shoes and not realizing it was you!
Anyways, I didn’t want to bother you on that day but I did want to tell you that my biggest wish was to see you win a World Series, be it with the Jays or even with another team.
So i’m very happy that you have a great opportunity to do so and I and all your fans will be watching you and following you with great interest.
I wish you the very best success in this new chapter of your life and career, a big thanks for your professionalism, loyalty and devotion to the Blue Jays and the city of Toronto and finally for the letter you published in the Toronto Sun yesterday.
It’s really us who should be thanking you.
All the best!
Thanks Doc,
I wish the MLB had more players like you. In this day of oversized contracts, steroids and spoiled, whining players, it’s nice to see a real man go out and do his job.
All the charity work in Toronto is deeply appreciated, see you in June!
Thanks Roy!You will always be the face of the franchise!
