Thanks for the memories Roy.

You were a class act on and off the field, you showed great determination and heart.

We’ll never forget you Doc!

I really can’t help my frustration here. Rogers is a great Canadian company, and god love Mr Rogers and his soul for being such a great Canadian businessman, but in terms of his association with the Blue Jays, the Blue Jays brand did a lot more for the Rogers brand, than Rogers ever did for the Blue Jays brand.

You are gone and now I am sure Rogers will now sell the Blue Jays as they now have what they wanted orginally from acquisition I am sure they will not be happy selling as low as they will, but you can thank J.P. the supersalesman for that to a large degree in selling a bill of goods for years to everyone to save his own ass, although Rogers made their own bed by never having any intention of providing the resources to build a team around you to compete in the AL East and improve the revenue model. I praise you for being so loyal and we all, I am sure, apologize for the teams management and ownership selling you a bill of goods that led you to wait so long for the playoff showcase and contract you deserved . Glad you finally saw the sitiuation for what it truly was.

—Peter Kenosha, WI

Thank you Roy. Been a Jays fan since the mid 80s and you are the best Blue Jay ever. I am disappointed you could not make it to the playoffs with the Jays, but I am hoping the Phillies make the playoffs this year.

—Chris, Appleton, WI

I’ll MISS YOU ROY

—Larry, Edmonton

Roy, words can’t express the ways you’ve bolstered baseball in Toronto. Watching you come up in the club and succeed as one of the league’s best is an inspiration for anyone in Toronto. Thanks dearly for all of your years of service and best wishes in Philly.

—Logan, Toronto

I just want to say thank you not just for your fantastic performances over the last decade but for showing dedication, professionalism and above all behaving with class and dignity setting an example which so many sportsman fail to do.

Had the fortune of seeing you pitch against the Angels in 2006 giving a masterclass in pitching shutting down one of the most effective lineups almost effortlessly.

You may be a Philly now but you always a be a Blue Jay to me. Go win that World Series!

—Paul, Gloucester, U.K

Roy, I was there for that very first 1 hitter against Detroit. I knew then that you were something special. I admire you so much – your talent – your determination and work ethic. My heart is broken that you left but I don’t blame you. I will continue to wear my Halladay shirts and my prized autographed cap. All the very best to you Doc. Go Phillies!!! I hope you get the ring you deserve so much.

—Jane, Toronto

Good luck in Philadelphia, Doc. I hope get the World Series ring you deserve. You’re always welcome in Toronto!

The national league is in for a world of hurt!

Thanks Roy. It has been a pleasure.

You were the starting pithcer for my first baseball game, and it made me become a baseball fan for life.

thanks roy

—Tom, Toronto

I love baseball because of Roy. We are turly fortunate to have the greatest pitcher in baseball. Wish you the best of luck in the National League.
And remember the door is always open in Toronto.

—Sy Fan, Toronto

As a relatively recent addition to the baseball world I have never known the Blue Jays without Doc (I first became interested in the Cy Young season). There has been many tributes, quite rightly, about Roy’s unrivalled talent and dedication but what really earns my respect more than anything is the dignity with which he carries himself. A true legend, thank you for all you’ve done Roy and all the best in Philadelphia – I hope you get the World Series ring you deserve.

—Craig, Glasgow

From that first game against Detroit I just knew it wasn’t beginers luck. Every time after that you proved it. A class act! I look forward to seeing what you can do in Phlli. P.S. I cheared for them in the World Series too. Who woulda guessed. Take care of those kids

—Gord, Kamloops BC

Roy, you were the only thing keeping me sane the past few years. While the Jays were pretty abysmal considering their hopes, and the successes of the rest of the AL East, you made the first half of each of the past few seasons really fun to watch. Also, after each inevitable fall in the standings, you gave me a reason to keep checking the box scores to see how you were doing for the Cy Young. I’m glad you were traded, the AL East held you back, and you should do far better in the National league.

—Jesse, West Hartford CT

Doc you are truly the best pitcher in the Majors and I was distraught to see you leave. You will truly be missed by all and it won’t be the same going down to the ball park and not getting a chance to see you. Good luck in 2010 we will be cheering for ya.

—Blair, Burlington

Doc, you;re the best thing that ever happened to the jays. You’re the B E S T pitcher in baseball and as much as it hurts to see you go, i wish you all the best in the future. And i can speak for all fans when i say that even though you’re with Philly, we’re all behind you. Go win a championship in 2010. You deserve it. =)

—Kunal, Toronto

Just picked up a roy halladay jersey, going to frame it and put it on my wall where it will stay for a life time, the same way that roy halladay will stay in all of the toronto bluejays fans hearts. I hope your career will only blossom from here on out so I can witness a man who played the game with such class and determination win the world series. You deserve it

—Darcy MacDonald,Edmonton

I still remember vividly during the last season of John Gibbons’ tenure as the coach that you had 2 of 3 straight starts where you pitched 8.2 innings and Gibbons took you off the mound. When the reliever came in, we ended up losing those games. I still remember how distraught you looked and the sheer emotion you unveiled when that happened. Regardless of the loss we sustained, you still pitched your very best the next game and the game after. I really admire that mental endurance you have when it comes to facing adversity and failure. I try to imitate it in university everyday when tests/exams/assignments go south of 50. Thank you Roy, I’ll always remember one of your quotes, “…as a pitcher you never aim to go a certain amount of innings…you just go out as long as you can, and as hard as you can…”

—Joey, Toronto

Not a goodbye Roy…just see you later…
You’ll never be gone in the hearts of your Blue Jay fans, your persona will always be in the dugout and Rogers Centre. I hope the youngsters you’ve left behind in Toronto will have picked up some of your grit, determination, loyalty and honour you gave out so effortlessly to your fans, teammates and management.
Class act, classy ballplayer and classy person, I hope you get the World Series ring you so desire. You deserve it.
