—Blue Jays fans in Toronto and around the world

Thanks for everything you brought to the Jays’ game, Roy, you have really made a difference! Although we will miss you we wish you well in the future. I am just grateful you chose to move to the NL so you won’t be punishing the Jays too often, and so you can get some batting in…you seemed to enjoy yourself at the plate, just don’t damage that beautiful arm!
Good Luck,
B.ill

—Bill Woodward, Guelph, Ont

Thanks for being a class person, always, during your years in Toronto. You always came prepared, performed like a Hall of Famer in every start and gave fans lots of great memories. Good luck to you in Philadelphia and hoping you will finally get to wear a World Series ring in the not too distant future.

—Charlottetown, PEI Canada

You are definitely the most unreal pitcher I have ever been able to see. I wasn’t that great of a pitcher until I started to study how you played the game and now I am the best on my team so I owe my thanks to you, Roy. Good luck in Philly, don’t win too many rings

—BummedJaysFan, Canada

Dear Roy, Of course I am a bit disappointed that you left my favorite MLB-team. But, I can understand your choice. The Phillies have a strong team and with your help it should be possible to win the World Series. I thanks you for all you have done in Toronto and good luck !

—Kees, The Netherlands

I am sixteen years old and for the past two years I have lived in Hong Kong (still watching all the jay games). I have watched bluejays games all my life, but I can honestly say that watching you pitch every fifth day was the best. I will miss that feeling of certainty that we were always the better team when you were pitching. So please come back after Philidelphia. Either way thanks for everything!

GO JAYS!

—Jay Fan, Hong Kong

Roy and family,

Thank you simply doesn’t seem enough in the end. Not only were you the best pitcher in Toronto history, you’re wife was an amazing women as well. What a team player both of you are, and I only wish you well in Philadelphia. I’m closer to their stadium than the Roger’s Center so expect to see at least one Toronto fan at your games here and there. Philly instantly became my favorite NL team once you moved there (thank GOD it wasn’t NYY or BOS), and I can’t wait until you derail the AL the next two years for titles. This will be just in time for the Phils to start fading in 2012 as the upstart Jays come back to the stage. I feel a mid-year swap gets you back to finish things out in style with your third straight title, this time (and finally) in Toronto. Looking forward to you being an amazing Toronto pitching coach in the distant future, maybe even manager.

Thanks for everything Halladay family! Good luck in Philly!

—Jason, Clifton, NJ

Thanks for the memories Roy! You were the best thing to happen to Toronto in a real long time, especially in my lifetime. You were – scratch that – you ARE my idol, my hero. Always will be. You’re contribution to Toronto, the Jays, and Canada itself will never be forgotten.
Long Live Roy!
Best of Luck in Phillie, and no matter what I will be cheering you on!

—Joseph, Richmond Hill

Thanks for all the memories, Roy. It was truly a pleasure and privilege to have grown up watching you. Good luck in Philly – we’ll see you in June!

—Ian, Mississauga

Best pitcher to ever take the mound in a Blue Jays uniform..thanks for making baseball in Canada a whole lot better over the years. Best of luck in Philly!

—Nathan, Vancouver

Dear Roy, what can I say other than best of luck to you and I am glad of all the teams that you could have gone to, at least you’re with the Phillies. Kick NYY’s butt this year. All the Best.
Loyal Toronto Fan who’ll probably drive down to Philadelphia to see you pitch. Cheers.

—Brad Baker, Kingston Ont.

Roy Halladay has made a huge impact in my life the past 5 years. He was the reason why I began watching, and love, baseball and took interest in becoming a pitcher for my league team and high school team. I believe that Roy is a talented and indescribably inspirational pitcher any fan can ask for. And thus for that, I thank you Roy. I hope you will fulfill your dream in winning the world series, as you have done more than enough for us.

Nothing but the best,

—Jason X, Mississauga

You are the reason I started watching baseball, and I thank you for that. Sad to see you go. I hope you win it all next year. Good luck in Philly and thanks again for the exciting years of baseball!

—Justin, Edmonton

Thanks for all the years of service Mr Roy Halladay. I’m said to see you go and will miss you but i’ll always root for you, regardless of the team your playing for or even if you come back and pitch against the jays, i’ll always root for you. Even when your 50 and no other team is interested, you’ll always be welcome back to the jays, you could go 0-20 (as if that would ever happen though!) and we’ll still be happy to have you back. :) You might be gone for now, but you’ll never be forgotten. You gave a fan all the way over in Australia great happiness. All the best Doc and remember you’ll always be welcome in a Jays uniform.

—Piers, (Shepparton) Australia

Thank you Roy for all the years of incredible baseball. You always have been and will continue to be my hero and inspiration for my own baseball career. Good luck with the Phillys, go win a World Series or two, then come back to the Jays, Toronto needs a reason to go to the games.

—Dan, Mississauga

Thank you very much Roy “Doc” Halladay. Unfortunately I didn’t get into baseball until this year, so i didn’t see nearly as much of you as I would have liked. However, I must thank you for the very impressive performances that i did see. You were the best Blue Jay ever, and the best pitcher in the Major Leagues today.

—Kevin, Toronto

It was incredibly sad to hear that you were being traded Roy. I truly wish that you could have won a world series as a Blue Jay. I think I saw you pitch four times, and you won each game. You’re the best pitcher in baseball. That was a very nice thing you did by taking that ad out in the Toronto Sun.
P.S. Maybe you could return to Toronto after your contract is up with the Phillies and be the final piece to the Jays World Series win in 2015!

—Mike, Peterborough On

I’ll miss you Doc. Your the best pitcher in the league and your the best pitcher the Jays have ever had. I wish you the best in Philly and i hope you lead them to a World Series Title!!

—Andrew, Toronto

Thank you Roy. You have been a great inspiration to all us Blue Jays fans. Every time you took the mound, we knew you were about to do something special. I don’t think Toronto will ever see another pitcher like you! All the best in Philadelphia. I really hope your dream of winning a World Series comes true.
All the best!

—Tony, Toronto

This touching story was written before the trade deadline when it looked like Doc might get traded. It accurately sums up how I feel about the best pitcher in baseball and I think sums up how most fans do as well. A very good read. Roy will always be an honorary Canadian in my books.

GO JAYS GO!

—Adam, Toronto

It was always a relief to check the game online and see that you were pitching. I always knew we had a great chance of winning no matter who the jays were playing. Thank You Roy for all the memories in skydome, and i hope you make many more great memories for the fans in philly. Your the best, man.
