Thanks Roy, for being the greatest Blue Jay to ever don the uniform. Good luck with the Phils!
Not only baseball world but all the other things in my real life, you have been my mentor and always will be. We had our moment with you and it is time for you to have your moment. I wish you the best all the rest of your way. You will be missed badly.
Thank you, Roy.
I brought my girlfriend to a game this past season and you were up against the Red Sox. She, not being a big ball fan, was skeptical of my excitement to see your name on the starting line up. By the late innings though, she understood. The crowd was so excited as you were in the process of a complete game in what many suspected was your last game as a Jay. That is what you have always done best, risen to the occasion with more than what anyone could hope for.
Ever since your 1-hitter that very first season, we all knew the Jays had someone special. Congrats on an amazing career with the Jays and here’s hoping the Phillies return to the World Deries!
I have been a die hard Jays fan for over 20 years now. But this season, once every five days, I’m gonna be a Phillies fan. I wish you the best of luck Roy and hope to see you on the mound at Rogers Center in June. I can guarantee there won’t be a single ‘Boo’. I think I speak for all Jays fans when I say “It has been a pleasure, come back any time!”
Hey Roy, just wanted to wish you good luck with your ventures in Philly. I really hope you get 2 maybe even 3 WS rings on your fingure because once 2013 comes along, they Jays should be in contending form and can hopefully lure you back. I just wanted to say I will miss your great passion for the game, and your great character both on and off the field. Best of luck.
Thanks for the memories Roy. You will be missed, and you are truely the best in the game today… Jays fans will miss you, however best of luck with your new club…hope you get a ring someday.
I would just like to say thank you very much Roy for all the great memories. I am a very dedicated Jays fan since I can remember and all my favorite memories have you in them. Living in a Province that does not really have much baseball influence I can say proudly that i’ve seen you pitch several times and it was amazing everytime. I wish you nothing but the best in Philie and look forward to seeing you get a ring!
Its funny. I dont think we all realize how much you meant to this city until you left. Your professionalism, your respect for the organization and the game, your social work for the city of Toronto and your competitiveness really define what a professional athlete is and should be. For me you will go down as the BEST and most loyal Blue Jay ever. I have the utmost respect for you and I wish you the best in Philly! Go get a ring!!!!
Thanks Roy! You were the Jays Greatest Pitcher! You provided me with some great memories. Roy, you will be missed by me and the fans. Every 5 days you would pitch and every Jay fan knew, we had the best of the best pitching for us. You shut down those Yankers and Sox all the time (those were the best). You set an amazing example to all the young arms in our system , Dustin, Shaun, Jesse, Mark, Bret and Ricky. You taught them how to prepare and get ready for a game and learned from the best.
You were a Classy Man and will be missed.
All the best of Luck to you in Philly.
Thank You!
Thank you for all of the great memories!
When the words class and professionalism are mentioned, the name Roy Halladay immediately comes to mind.
I have always admired your work ethic on and off the field and believe you are an excellent role model.
Your work ethic has not gone unnoticed as I often think of it while completing my own athletic endeavours.
Good luck as a Philly and remember us at the end of your career!
Roy,
Thanks for the 15 years you gave us. Although we are all super sad to see you go, we are all super happy for you. We hope you realize your hopes and dreams in Philly and win at least a couple of rings and even a couple of more well deserved Cy’s too. We will never forget you in Toronto and all of Canada!! You are in a class of your own on so many levels off and on the field. From your charity work, leadership, patience, and work ethics, you are a role model hard to match up with. But we can all try.
When the day comes, and we all know it will, we would be honored to see you wear a Jays cap into the hall. Toronto will always remember and embrace you.
Good luck in Philadelphia Roy! We will all still be cheering for you.
GO Jays!! Go Roy!!
Stu from Winnipeg
Roy,
Thanks for coming to Philadelphia. I’m quite sure by reading these posts that your positive influences will reach far beyond the baseball diamond. They are a testimony to the person you are.
We lost another class act in Cliff Lee, but I assure you, your talent, both on and off the field will be very welcome and appreciated in this region.
Now let’s go out and get the Phils their second ring in three years!!
YOU’RE ALREADY ONE OF US!!!
Dear DOC,
Thank you for the Musi(K). I echo everybody’s sentiments when I say, it was always a pleasure watching you pitch, complete game or not. Sorry we could not present the opportunities for a World Series Championship ring for you. You and your family are the the model baseball family on and off the field. Although I do go to college close to Philly, PA, it will be a pleasure to watch you once every five games (despite the Mets being my favorite NL team which I’m reconsidering), and will support you nonetheless in your pursuit of the Postseason . Who knows, maybe you can return to help us relive the 1992/1993 glories once you have received your postseason ring in Pennsylvania?
Here’s to you Roy. Good luck to you as we enter an A.D. period (After DOC).
Thanks Roy, for giving Blue Jay fans a chance to experience the greatest pitcher the team has and will ever see. Even as a Blue Jay fan, I cannot wait to see you and the Phillies go on to a World Series win. You are a class act and every figure in sports should take lesssons from you on how to train, be part of a team, carry yourself ….etc.
Best Wishes and Good Luck,
Adrian
Thanks Doc. Hope you come back to finish your career here and see your #32 retired for all time as the first Jay uniform never to be worn by anyone. Get that ring and hurry back. I’m getting old.
All I can say is “Thanks” for being the class act that you are just not in baseball but being a model for what everyday people should try to attain, the loyalty, the heart, etc…
Hate to see you go but as all the fans have written on this site, we only wish the best for you and your family in Philly!
We all hope you win the World Series to complete an outstanding career.
You will have all the Canadian baseballs fans routing for you!!
Take care!!
I am based in the UK but have followed the Jays for years, sad that I won’t ever see you pitch again for the Jays but thanks for all the times you gave us and I really hope you and your family have great holidays and settle well in your new organisation.
Thanks Roy
You are one in a million player. It was a blessing to have you on my favorite team. You have made that last decade worth so much more as a fan. Every year you pitched, there was hope of the post season. I will cheer for you even if you are some where else. You are my favorite player, and will continue to be. When/if my 3yr old son takes up baseball, I will tell him, “if you want to be a big leaguer, watch and learn how from Doc” There will be more pitchers for the Jays, but there will only even be a Doc . Thanks for everything Doc, Good luck in the NL, I know you will do well.
Best of luck, Roy, in Philly. I am a long-time Blue Jay fan, and have never even had a second favorite team. It’s a testament to your long-time loyalty, professionalism and excellent performance that I now have my second favorite team – the Philadelphia Phillies. I hope you’ll be pitching when the Phillies come to town the weekend of June 25-27 – I’ll be watching how the rotation shapes up and make sure I am at the game in which you start!
