—Blue Jays fans in Toronto and around the world

Thanks for giving us something to look forward to when you were on the mound in Toronto. I wish you all the best in Philadelphia. Maybe you can come back to pitch during your last yr before you retire!

—Cynthia, Lakefield, Ontario

Just wanted to give a quick Thanks to Roy!! You not only were amazing to watch, but it was everything else you did for the city of Toronto and Cananda which made me insired by you. You were and still are the most dominent pitcher in baseball and you were someone I looked up to as a kid pitcher trying to fufill his dream of playing in the bigs!! Thanks for all the memories and I’m sure with the new additions that “YOU” have brought us, I’m sure that we will see you back in about 3-4 years helping us secure a World Series again here in Canada!! don’t forget us Roy, we will never forget you!!

—London, Ontario

I remember many years ago a young Roy was getting hammered by opposing lineups, but you persevered and started over. Your following years can only be summed up as intense, consistent and dominating. You were our rock every 5th game and for the team we put around you it wasn’t fair, yet you always wanted the ball in the 9th to finish it. Thanks for everything and good luck in the National League, the Cy Young is yours for the taking.

—Ryan, St. John's, NL.

It has been a priviledge watching you on and off the field. You are a true proffesional. There never has been or will be a classier individual to represent not only Toronto but Canada. We will miss you but wish you much success in the future, Go get that ring.

Al Clough

Roy,

Do not think you’ve accomplished nothing while in Toronto. You gave our meaningless lives meaning and lifted our spirits. Thank you.

I’ve instantly become a Phillies fan. For only one reason.

ROY
I don’t think Roy is a very common name but I will always associate hearing that name with you. I never saw you pitch live but watched you on TV over the years and admired you. A true professional on the mound and representative of the Jays. Your departure leaves a huge void in the hearts of each on of the Jays fans but we realize time moves on and can only wih you continued success in your career. You will be a Hall of Famer down the road.

—ROB ROUNDELL, MONCTON

Roy, the Jays should have taken out an ad in the Sun to apologize for not putting a better team behind you. The city of Toronto loves you and will most certainly be giving you a standing ovation on June 25th (which you should be pitching on, don’t forget.)

Either way, you were the reason I got into baseball as a kid and I’ll be rooting for you in Philly.

—Aldo, Pickering

Please come back to the Jays when you’re current contract w/the Phillies ends in 4-5 years!
That would be so swell for the long-suffering fans of the Blue Jays….

Best of Luck in Philadelphia Roy ! They won’t know what hit e’m…

—Melissa B, Stockholm, Sweeden

Roy, sometimes in life we don’t realize how lucky we are, for the fans of the Toronto Blue Jays we have been truly blessed to witness not only the best pitcher in baseball but also the classiest figure in all of profesional sports ply his trade, always thinking of the team first, never complaining about anything, I’ve sat and talked to my children using you as an example of how people will be remembered in whatever feild they choose, how to treat your peers and most importantly work ethic. Here’s hoping you find your dream for there is not more a deserving person to wear a world series ring than you sir. You are the definition of class my only hope is that when you go to the hall somehow it is in a Jays cap for you are the best to ever wear the uniform. Championships have been won and lost over the years and we have savoured all of the great memories but champions are defined by their actions on and off the field and you are a true champion the best to have ever passed through Toronto in any sport. Opening day will be forever changed, but from my family to yours we want to be cheering for you in the world series so go chase that dream and Good Luck for you deserve nothing less, just please don’t forget us.

—Tom, Wainfleet

I don’t really have anything to say except it’s been a privilege watching you work. Best of luck in the future.

—Chris P., Ottawa

Roy, you truly are the greatest Jay of all time on and off the field. You made watching some bad Jays teams enjoyable and exciting. Best of luck in Philly and hopefully you win a couple more Cy’s and that championship to cement your spot in the Hall.

—Rob, Sherbrooke

It’s been fantastic watching you game in and game out, competing and amazing us with your ability. And you’ve carried my fantasy baseball team to victory the past two years! Hope you get your much deserved World Series ring.

—Rob, Perth Australia

I’m gonna miss you taking that Mound 32+ times a year, wish we coulda built a Contender here..Best of Luck, Roy!

—Jay, Calgary

It was such a treat for Blue Jay fans to see Doc take the mound every five days. His pofessionalism, determination, and work ethic was truly inspiring. “Throw back or old school” school players do not come along much nowadays. We were very fortunate for so long to be able to cheer for such a class act. Doc, we appreciate your devotion to your craft, how you set an example for your teammates, and how you unselfishly gave back to the community. We’ll miss you but are so very grateful and proud of you.

—Todd, Sarnia

All the best in Philly, was a pleasure and an honour watching the best pitcher in baseball for so long

—Graham Dolby, Guelph

The best pitcher in all of professional baseball. Period. I am proud to have witnessed seeing this man pitch at the Rogers Centre. Wish you the best!

—SY, Scarborough
